One of our Mustangs players, Ben Lucas, was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewings Sarcoma. He and his family have begun on a difficult journey of chemo and surgery. Ben is currently in Denver Children’s Hospital and is expected to split time between the hospital and home for the next year or so.
If you would like to send Ben funny and uplifting cards you can mail them to:

The Mustangs organization will be looking for ways to help support the Lucas’s so watch for additional posts with opportunities to help. There is a bank account set up at American National Bank. Additionally, there is a GoFundMe account and you can go here if you want to look at that: http://www.gofundme.com/h6dtc4
Update on Ben Lucas
Ben meets Cargo!
Player of the Week [connections]
While at Children’s getting chemo a hospital employee came into Ben’s room and told him that someone wanted to meet him. She then told Ben that the visitor was Carlos Gonzalez. Needless to say, she hardly got the rest of the sentence out before Ben responded, “Yes!” Cargo then came in with a big smile and shook his hand. Ben and Cargo spent quite awhile talking about baseball. They chatted about what it’s like playing for the Major Leagues. Cargo said other than all the people and the noise… it is just baseball, and when it comes down to it, baseball is the same game they all love to play no matter where they play. They talked more baseball and then Cargo introduced Ben to his wife. We all snapped a few pictures and Cargo told Ben he hoped to see him soon. It was a wonderful moment that made Ben’s day and is something that he will never forget! Cargo is such a great guy and we truly appreciate him taking time out of his schedule to visit Ben. He definitely made a fan for life!
